Bitcoin and other digital assets were sliding on Tuesday after President Donald Trump’s first day in office left crypto bulls feeling underwhelmed. While the 47th president signed a bunch of executive orders, none addressed crypto.
The cryptos launched by the Trump family late Friday also dropped. Over the past 24 hours the Official Trump token plummeted 29% to about $38, and the Melania Meme coin plunged 54% to just over $4.
Apple shares are down 1.94% after Jefferies downgraded the tech giant
from Hold to Underperform and reduced the price target from $211.84 to $200.75 due to weak iPhone sales.
Intel stock is up in premarket as takeover rumors continue to hover around the struggling chipmaker.
Walgreens Boots Alliance are sliding 7% after the U.S. Justice Department sued the drugstore chain for allegedly helping fuel the opioid crisis.
Moderna shares are up nearly 3.6% after the federal government gave the company $590 million to accelerate a bird flu vaccine.
Inflation
Inflation is the rate at which prices for goods and services increase over time, leading to a gradual loss of purchasing power.
The inflation rate is calculated as the average price increase of a set basket of goods and services over one year.
When inflation is high, it means that prices are increasing too quickly, while maintaining low inflation means that prices are growing at a slower rate.
