We are nearing the end of the first trading month of 2025. So far stock market prices and big swings have calmed down in the past month.
Downside risk hedging via bearish put options has given way to enthusiasm for more bullish call options on stocks.
So the shifting around towards those call options(prediction that the price of the stock will go up) could mean another rally could be brewing for stocks.

President Donald Trump signed an executive order on cryptocurrencies Tuesday. The order Trump signed sets up a crypto working group that is expected to propose a federal regulatory framework governing the issuance and operation of digital assets. It also calls for the group to evaluate “the potential creation and maintenance of a national digital-asset stockpile, and propose criteria for establishing such a stockpile.”
During his address to the World Economic Forum’s annual gathering in Davos, Switzerland, President Donald Trump put pressure on the Federal Reserve’s efforts to fight inflation through elevated interest rates.
Trump demanded that Saudi Arabia and other members of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries(OPEC) to lower oil prices, saying he believes that should then lead to rate cuts by the US central bank.
Tesla is up in premarket. The electric-vehicle maker said in March it will begin delivering a revamped version of the Tesla Model Y. The Model Y Juniper will cost $59,990—about 25% more than the previous version—and will feature Tesla’s full self-driving software. The care also will have a longer range of 320 miles.
Texas Instruments was down 3.6% in premarket trading after the chip company reported Q4 earnings and revenue that beat analysts’ estimates but issued weak profit guidance for the current first quarter.
Boeing down 1.7% after the company announced Q4 loss per share, wider than analysts’ estimates, due to a two-month labor strike and costs from job cuts announced last year.
Twilio is up 17% after the maker of communications tools for businesses achieved positive operating income for Q4, a first for the company, on revenue growth of about 11%.
Verizon Communications is up in premarket after Q4 earnings topped expectations as higher prices for its plans helped the company’s wireless service business make more money than a year earlier.
American Express down in premarket after the credit card company reported Q4 earnings that narrowly topped Wall Street estimates. The company posted total revenue net of interest expense slightly above the consensus estimate.
Novo Nordisk stock jumped 12% in the US after the Danish drug company announced data for a new weight-loss drug that appeared to be more efficient than its blockbuster Ozempic and Wegovy drugs currently on the market.

The Gold Standard
The gold standard is a monetary system where a country's currency or paper money has a value directly linked to gold.
With the gold standard, countries agreed to convert paper money into a fixed amount of gold.
A country that uses the gold standard sets a fixed price for gold and buys and sells gold at that price.
